The Heritage is our entry-level Government-sized 1911. We created this model to allow shooters to experience Dan Wesson quality at the most affordable price possible. Even though this model is our most economical, it features all the same great components that we use in our other 1911 models. The slide features our Clark style rib and wears a Tritium front sight and plain black snag-free rear. The sides of the slide have a nice brushed polish on the flats while the rounds are nicely sandblasted to match the matte forged frame with undercut trigger guard and smooth front strap. Grips are Double Diamond by Hogue. The Heritage is a great gun to get you started on the Dan Wesson 1911 experience and we are confident the Heritage will be handed down from generation to generation.
Did a lot of research looking for the right 1911 and all research lead me to DW. A near custom gun at the same or better than most higher end factory 1911s. Fit and finish is superb. Quality is perfect. Everything is clean and functions perfectly. The fit of slide to frame is incredible. I picked up my Heritage yesterday and shot 200 rounds this evening. They say you need to allow 200 to 500 rounds of break in for most 1911s, but the Heritage ran without a hiccup or a flinch. Excellent shooter. So accurate that I had to stop aiming for the center of my targets because my shots were going right through the big hole I made! So much fun to shoot. Comfortable. Great trigger with no play and little travel. Perfect fit. A breeze to shoot one handed. Absolutely the best pistol I have ever shot (and I shot a lot of 1911s to find this one). Unbeatable quality 1911 that no one can beat. No one does it better than DW. I am definitely a fan. There is a reason you can't find anything negative on DW - because there is nothing negative about DW. You probably won't find one of these in the wild of your local shop because they don't stay long enough on any shelf. But you can always order one with confidence that it will exceed expectations. Just does not disappoint. I don't think DW knows how to disappoint! DW: glad I found you!
I friend and customer called me this week looking for a Kimber. I suggested he try a HAND MADE 1911 from DW for about the same price. I'd never actually seen the RZ-45 but had shot some of DW's higher priced gun and had no reason to doubt this gun. Well, when I got it in I was very impressed. The finish was gorgeous. The frame to slide fit was snug but not tight. But same goes for the barrel bushing. The trigger broke crisply at 4.5# on my Lyman trigger gauge. I'm sure that will come down as the gun gets used. Just very nicely done. My friend reports its a great shooter. This gun is a STEAL at the current price. Hurry before DW figures this out and raises the price.
This is an excellent pistol! I would compare it to Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, or Les Bear at half-the-price or less! Still proudly made in the USA.
WOW. That's how I feel every time I pick up my Heritage. It has been 100% out of the box. Fit and finish are way above expectations. I look forward to my next Dan Wesson purchase. The Guardian.
