The P-06 is the .40 S&W version of the 9mm CZ 75 P-01 model.
The P-01 9mm was designed for LE and Military duty, but its compact size and the reduced weight due to its forged alloy frame made it ideal for discrete carry as well. Equipped with a decocker, the P-01 provides convenience for those who prefer hammer-down carry.
The P-01 was the first CZ model to benefit from updated manufacturing technology at CZ's Uhersky Brod factory. The components of the P-01/P-06 are completely interchangable with every other P-01/P-06, with no individual fitting required. This required some very careful re-design so that the reliability and accuracy were not impaired. Since the time of its introduction (designed in 2001, NATO-approved in 2003) the production upgrades have been rolled out to most of the CZ 75 family and several new rifle models as well. The 1913 accessory rail easily accepts any of the industry-standard lights and lasers to assist low-light use. The P-01 is the only NATO-spec pistol on the market that is available to the public. After 3 years of some of the most aggressive small arms testing ever, the CZ P-01 won the honor of replacing the CZ 75s previously used by the Czech National Police.
Reliability: The U.S. Army "Mean Rounds Between Failure" (MRBF) requirement is 495 rounds for 9mm pistols. During testing of the CZ P-01, the average number of stoppages was only 7 per 15,000 rounds fired. This is a .05% failure rate or an MRBF of 2142!
I had no experience with CZ products until an acquaintance purchased a CZ 75b and let me shoot it. From then, I just knew I had to have one. The grip felt great and the gun barely recoiled with the 9mm ammo. However, the 75b, being all steel, seemed a little heavy for me. Fortunately, after checking out an alloy framed P06, I was in love. I've since shot over 12M rounds of 40 over two years, including having participated in IDPA with the gun, with barely any issues. With a lighter main spring and competition LPA sights (from CZ custom), the gun is a pleasure to shoot, and shoot it does very accurately. The only issues encountered were due to my own handloads. The gun continues to functions perfectly. I can't recommend this gun too highly. Thanks, CZ!
My P-06 has been my everyday carry for about 1-1/2 year, 3000+ rounds through it and not one FTF/FTE! I take it to IDPA events in sub-zero temperatures (COLD Michigan winters), punish it with 300 rounds in 1/2 hour... it goes bang every time and it's ready for more. It's very accurate with an incredibly manageable recoil that makes it easy to bring back on target for the next shot. Easy to break down and clean, just an all around great gun. I'm a CZ customer for life!
Did tons of research of several more expensive pistols and chose the CZ75-P06 without ever holding one. Incredibly comfortable and shoots like a dream! Its accuracy out-shoots my kool-aid drinking buddies on the range every time!
Bought P-06 in Jan. 2011, like the grip and feel but trigger pull was hvy. at 6 lbs. SA so had local gunsmith work over pull and action. Now 4.25 lb. SA, 8.5 lb. DA and smooth as glass. Shoot over 600 rds. in six months. Groups 2-3" at 25 yds. with rest, 5" offhand (10 shots). Very fine weapon and exceptional accuracy. Weight and feel is unsurpassed in amm metal handgun.
I bought this pistol from a buddy of mine about 2 year ago when I decided to downgrade from a .45 (very expensive round to shoot.) He let me shoot a full clip and I fell in love. I enjoy the small compact design but still has the muscle behind it. The recoil isn't bad at all and i can keep the rounds to a 6" cluster from about 35 yards now. The gun doesn't jam and it very easy to clean. Keep up the good work CZ you have a loyal customer for life now!
As with ALL of the CZ family of weapons I own, these are the finest quality made pieces of ANY I repeat ANY of the other Mfgrs. out there. This pistol is absolutely AMAZING in every aspect. Thanks CZ for putting out a product that an avid shooter can afford.
